Two Coatesville School Robotics Teams Going to State

Feb 26, 2024 | Coatesville

The Coatesville Robotics Teams from both Coatesville Area Senior High School and Coatesville Intermediate School are gearing up for the state tournament in Hellertown on March 16 and 17, according to a report by Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News. The older team comprises students in grades ten to twelve, while the younger team consists of students in grades eight to nine.

Both teams participated in the Pennsylvania FIRST Robotics’ First Tech Challenge, and both secured invitations to the Pennsylvania championship. Over the past five months, students have dedicated themselves to meeting three times a week, focusing on programming, design, building, and competition readiness. Their robots are capable of picking up and moving two pieces of plastic to a designated area, with points awarded based on the number of pieces, or pixels, successfully delivered.

Competing against approximately 30 teams across two divisions, both Coatesville teams clinched spots in the top four of each division, securing their spots in the state finals.

Davis, a team member, expressed anticipation for the upcoming challenge, stating, “At states, we’ll be working with the best of the best. It will be a lot more of a challenge.”
