State Rep. Dan Williams Advocates for Ongoing State Funding in Coatesville

Dec 8, 2023 | Downtown

State Rep. Dan Williams, D–Chester, hosted several state officials today to highlight the need for additional state funding to support redevelopment in Coatesville.

Since assuming office in 2019, Williams has played a key role in securing funding for various redevelopment initiatives in Coatesville, such as a new firehouse, public works building, and a parking facility at the train station, totaling over $7 million. Despite these achievements, Williams emphasized the ongoing challenges faced by Coatesville, a former industrial town with the highest poverty rate in Chester County. Williams believes that further investment, particularly in a targeted three-to-four block area, will significantly benefit the community of 14,000 residents. State Rep. Jordan Harris, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, joined Williams on a tour of Coatesville, praising the city’s progress in redevelopment and highlighting the essential role of continued state funding.

“Today’s walking tour is a direct result of Coatesville’s dedicated champion, State Representative Dan Williams. It underscores the pivotal role of sustained state funding in Coatesville’s ongoing redevelopment,” Harris affirmed. “This investment reflects our commitment to the resilience of this community, declaring that each step we take is a stride toward revitalization.”

Representing the 74th Legislative District, Williams serves Atglen, Coatesville, Honey Brook Borough, Honey Brook Township, Modena, Parkesburg, Sadsbury, South Coatesville, Valley, West Caln, West Sadsbury, and Districts 1, 2, and 3 of Caln in Chester County.
