Highlighting Positive Community News and Stories from the Greater Coatesville Area

Spotlight Series: Triple Fresh Market and Doe Run Catering

Feb 9, 2024 | Coatesville

For over two centuries, Triple Fresh Market has stood as a beacon of community resilience and tradition in Coatesville. Established in 1818 by Gideon Pierce, the market’s roots run deep, with its original building serving as the village’s post office and officially establishing the area’s name as Ercildoun.

In 1863, the Webster family embarked on their own chapter of stewardship, purchasing the market and adjacent farm as they moved to 19320 from the Lancaster area. Over three generations, the Websters transformed the market to meet the evolving needs of the surrounding community. The market became a one-stop-shop for locals. But more than just a place of commerce, it was a gathering spot, where rocking chairs on the porch welcomed friends and neighbors to share stories and laughter.

In 1987, a new era dawned as Jim Petro acquired the store from Lloyd Webster. Over the next three decades, the Petro family infused Triple Fresh Market with modernity while preserving its cherished traditions. Today, Triple Fresh remains a cornerstone of the community, continuing to serve its friends and neighbors with the same dedication and community spirit that has defined it for over 200 years.

But Triple Fresh’s story doesn’t end at groceries and provisions. Within its walls, another venture thrives – Doe Run Catering. What began as modest luncheons and small-scale events eventually blossomed into a high-end catering company, renowned for its culinary excellence and impeccable service. Through word of mouth and glowing reviews, Doe Run Catering has carved out a niche as a premier catering service, elevating events with its exceptional offerings from a full-service, high-end, chef-driven caterer.

Yet, Triple Fresh Market and Doe Run Catering are not just businesses; they are pillars of community support. Recognizing the importance of giving back, Triple Fresh launched Triple Fresh Neighbors, a program dedicated to supporting local charities and initiatives. From hoagie fundraisers to charity events, the Petro family and their team are deeply committed to making a positive impact in the Coatesville community and beyond.

Indeed, Triple Fresh Market and Doe Run Catering embody the essence of community spirit, weaving a tapestry of tradition, generosity, and resilience that continues to inspire and unite generations of residents. As they invite patrons to share in their rich history and heritage, the Petro family’s commitment to serving their community remains unwavering, ensuring that Triple Fresh Market and Doe Run Catering will continue to be cherished landmarks for years to come.
