Rachel Cathell, the dynamic Executive Director of the Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce, epitomizes a blend of passion, expertise, and dedication. With a background in digital publishing and media, Cathell’s journey into the realm of chambers of commerce was not just a career choice but a calling.

Her trajectory into the chamber world commenced immediately after college, where she landed a coveted role on the communications team of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. It was here that Cathell’s ardor for chambers was ignited, as she delved deep into the stories of businesses, recognizing their profound impact on local communities.

Reflecting on her early experiences, Cathell recalls that she was captivated by the stories of businesses—their backgrounds, challenges, and goals. Subsequently, Cathell transitioned to a similar role within the Cecil County Chamber of Commerce, where her commitment to enhancing business visibility and promoting economic vitality remained unwavering. Her tenure in Cecil County further solidified her belief in the transformative power of chambers of commerce.

In 2016, Cathell’s journey brought her to the Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce, initially as the Communications Coordinator. Over the years, she ascended to the position of Executive Director, a role in which she has thrived and flourished.

At the helm of the Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce, Cathell’s mission is clear: to expand opportunities for businesses and cultivate a thriving economic landscape across the 24 municipalities under its purview. Central to this mission is the chamber’s commitment to fostering regional collaboration while creating an environment conducive to business growth and community well-being. Cathell’s leadership extends beyond traditional chamber functions, with a particular focus on the Future Focus plan—a comprehensive blueprint aimed at ensuring smart growth and development. From advocating for sound infrastructure to championing farmland preservation and conservation efforts, Cathell is deeply invested bringing the community together to shape the future trajectory of the region.

“Professionally and personally, there’s no line for me when it comes to my work at the chamber,” Cathell asserts. For her it’s not just a job; it’s a passion—a commitment to building a better future for Western Chester County. As Cathell continues to spearhead initiatives aimed at fostering economic prosperity, her unwavering dedication serves as a beacon of inspiration for businesses and stakeholders alike.
