Coatesville Students Earn Jobs Quickly After Successful Internships

Jan 9, 2024 | Uncategorized

High school seniors from Coatesville Area School District recently completed a skilled welding internship at Morgan Truck Body. This resulted in seven job offers, commencing post-graduation at $23 per hour, with the option for part-time work until then. These Coatesville students earned pay while attending daily two-hour classes, counting towards high school credit.

Richard Dixon, manager of Morgan Truck Body’s high school training program, praised the seven students for completing the comprehensive training program, including lab instruction, welding equipment training, and access to a Virtual Reality Welding Simulator. The internship offers an earn-while-you-learn pathway to a living wage and advancement without a college degree.

Up to 14 students, including those from Coatesville, TCHS, Twin Valley, Wilson, and Wyomissing Area School District, are invited each semester to participate in the paid training program. Of the 36 graduates so far, 25 have been hired by Morgan Truck Body straight out of high school.

Julie Ubele, Talent Acquisition Manager at Morgan, highlighted the company’s support for a workforce of 2700 employees, emphasizing excellent training, benefits, and growth opportunities in the trades.

High school seniors, aged 17 or older, can attend Morgan Truck Body’s paid welding training program in either the fall or spring session. Those offered employment at the end of the fall session can work part-time until graduation, while those offered employment after the spring session can start full-time work upon graduation. Full-time employees receive 80% college tuition reimbursement after six months, along with comprehensive benefits such as health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability plans, 401(k), paid time off, and tuition reimbursement.
