Coatesville Native Among PA’s Top NBA Players

Coatesville native, Richard Hamilton, makes the list of top NBA players from Pennsylvania, according to Matt Benedetto for abc27. Hamilton, who played for the University of Connecticut, ranked ninth on the list making the Coatesville native among PA’s Top NBA players.

The shooting guard/small forward was selected by Washington Wizards as seventh overall in the first round of the 1999 draft. Hamilton was often referred to as “Rip,” because it is said that his ability to navigate screens and create opportunities off the ball made him a nightmare for defenders.

During his 14-year-long NBA career, he played for the Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons, and Chicago Bulls. In 921 games, he averaged 32.1 minutes played and 17.1 points per game. As well as a .449 field goal percentage. He totaled 15,708 points, 319 blocks, 1,407 steals, and 6,750 assists. He won the 2004 NBA Championship and was named an all-star three times. During his career Hamilton played against some of the most famous basketball players of all time, including Kobe Bryant.
